Learning About Financial Literacy and Free Tax Services

On November 4, the Center hosted nine members for a presentation by Nick Brundage from VITA & ACT. Nick provided an overview of services and programs available to Connecticut residents.

Advancing CT Together (ACT) provides free financial literacy programs to Connecticut residents. Their “Money School” curriculum includes 11 modules comprising 13 individual classes that cover various aspects of financial literacy, such as budgeting, retirement planning, homeownership, and social security. Attendees also learned how VITA volunteers assist community members with free tax preparation services, accessible by calling 211 to schedule an appointment. Following the workshop, participants enjoyed lunch featuring Tammy’s Tortellini Soup with bread.
