White Cane Awareness Open House

On Saturday, October 18, we celebrated White Cane Awareness with an open house featuring popcorn, cotton candy, and a flurry of bubbles over New London. While attendance was smaller than our first Open House, visitors stayed to learn about the Center, try using a White Cane, navigate without sight, and even have their vision checked by Nanette Burdick.
Demonstrations included “Meta Smart Glasses” with Mike and Karen, and “David Holmes’ Invention” presented by David and John, with participants trying out smart glasses afterward. Nanette completed 11 vision screenings, three people signed up for the newsletter, one took a volunteer application, and we received 17 donations for the shirt fundraiser.
A heartfelt thank you to the 16 volunteers who made the day possible, and to the Lendroths for providing the cotton candy machine and treats, leaving more than one attendee with a delightfully blue smile!
